All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has refused to give approval for technical courses to 3 thousand colleges of Punjab. About 5814 educational institutions of Punjab had applied for BBC, BCA and BMS courses. Out of which only 2814 institutions have got approval.
Institutions have to give information about intake and infrastructure
It is being told that along with applying to run the course, educational institutions have to give information about their intake and infrastructure. Only after this the council gives approval to run the related course.
AICTE says that for the convenience of the institutions, there is no restriction on the intake limit in the first year. At the same time, technical courses running in non-technical institutions are also being recognized by AICTE.
This is why approval was not given
Institutions have not got approval because they are still teaching students according to the old syllabus. Now the matter is stuck in approval, due to which colleges cannot conduct some technical courses.
