Before the Panchayat elections to be held on October 15 in Punjab, 195 Panchayats have been elected unanimously in Jalandhar. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal gave this information. He told that the maximum number of 28 Panchayats have been elected unanimously in Lohian Khas block.
Panchayats elected unanimously at these places
Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal told that the maximum number of 28 Panchayats have been elected unanimously in Lohian Khas block in Jalandhar. 25 Panchayats in Jalandhar West Block, 24 Panchayats in Phillaur, 20 Panchayats in Nakodar have been elected unanimously. Apart from this, 19, 17, 15, 14, 13, 11 and 9 Panchayats have been elected unanimously in Shahkot, Bhogpur, Noormahal, Rudkan Kalan, Mehatpur, Adampur and Jalandhar East Block respectively.
1662 Sarpanch candidates remain
Dr. Agarwal said that after the withdrawal of nomination papers, 1662 candidates remain for the post of Sarpanch and 5464 for the post of Panch. 1014 voting centers have been set up for voting. Elections will be held in 691 gram panchayats on October 15, because as per the court order, stay orders will be imposed on four villages.
Security personnel will be present during voting
He said that the district administration has made strong arrangements to ensure free, fair and transparent elections. The administration is leaving no stone unturned and strict security arrangements have also been made to maintain peace during the elections.
Voting will be from 8 am to 4 pm
The DC appealed to the voters to exercise their voting rights responsibly and freely on the day of voting. He said that voting will be from 8 am to 4 pm. Counting of votes will start immediately after the voting ends.
