Air India and Air India Express airlines had to cancel 70 of their flights. In fact, many senior crew members of the Tata Group-owned airline had taken leave en masse. Due to which the company had to take this step. This matter is being investigated through the Civil Aviation Authority.
The airline issued a statement
Acknowledging the issue, the airline has issued a statement saying that a section of our cabin crew reported falling ill at the last minute last night. Due to this reason the flight was delayed and cancelled. We are in talks with the crew to understand the reasons behind these incidents.
Along with this, the airline further said in the statement, our teams are actively addressing this issue to minimize any inconvenience caused to our guests due to any reason. We sincerely apologize to our guests for this unexpected disruption.
Passengers will get full refund
Passengers affected due to flight cancellations will be given a full refund or the option to reschedule their flights to another date. Also, Air India Express has requested people to check whether their flight has been affected before going to the airport.
