An important news has come out for those who are going to get married in Punjab. According to the information, couples applying under the Intercaste Marriage Scheme in Punjab will be given Rs 2.5 lakh. Now the applicants will not have to visit the post office to make payment as this facility will now be provided online.
Punjab government will give money
In 2017, this amount was increased from Rs 50 thousand to 2.5 lakh by the central government, but now the Punjab government has approved it. If sources are to be believed, the scheme is shared by the central and state government, but in 2021 the Punjab government did not get any funds from the Center in the scheme. Due to this the scheme was not completed. There are still many applications in the state till 2018-19. Every year about 500 new applications have also come from different districts, but due to non-receipt of money, the applicants have to go to the office.
Facility will be available online
Intercaste Marriage Scheme was started in Punjab in 1986-87. During this time, only 15 thousand rupees were given to married couples. After this, in 2004, this amount was increased to 50 thousand. During this time, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that earlier the applicant had to go to the post office for payment but now online facilities will not be available. It is being told that all the applications pending in this case will be finished by January 2025.
