Even after taking action on the orders of the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT), cases of stubble burning have increased in Punjab. There were 2611 cases of stubble burning in Punjab in 48 hours on Diwali day and Monday. Along with this, 3836 farmers have been fined.
According to media reports, 1,624 cases were reported in Punjab. A total of 2,611 cases of farm fires have been reported from across the state in the last two days. In this, 987 cases of burning of paddy waste have come on the day of Diwali.
There was a decrease in the incidents of stubble burning between 9 and 11 November. On November 9, 639 cases of farm fires were reported from across the state. Whereas on November 10, only 6 cases of stubble burning were reported and on November 11, 104 cases were reported.
Bathinda, the most polluted city in Punjab, is at the forefront of burning stubble. Maximum incidents of fire in 272 fields were reported in Bathinda. Whereas Sangrur is in second place where 216 cases have been reported. Similarly, 191 in Muktsar, 171 in Fajika, 164 in Moga, 132 in Barnala, 129 in Faridkot, 110 in Mansa, 98 in Firozpur, 41 in Patiala, 36 in Ludhiana, 25 in Malerkotla, 12 in Amritsar, 9 in Fatehgarh Sahib. , Two cases each have been reported in Hoshiarpur and Tarn Taran.
25 thousand cases were reported this season
A total of 26,341 cases of farm fires have been reported from October 1 to November 13. In which 22,555 cases were reported in just 16 days between October 29 and November 13. This is approximately 85% of this season's events. Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) has asked state agencies to remain alert.
FIR also registered against 245
Following the orders of DGP Punjab to hold the SHO responsible for the ban on stubble burning in the state, the phase of registering FIRs has started in Punjab. On November 8 and 9, 245 FIRs were registered against farmers in the state.
3,836 fined
At the same time, police and district-level teams and 638 flying squad teams formed to monitor stubble burning have imposed a total fine of Rs 88.23 lakh on 3,836 farmers.
