Last night, a speeding Mahindra Bolero vehicle ran over labourers sleeping on the footpath on the Jalandhar-Pathankot bypass. 2 people have died in the accident. While two labourers are seriously injured. People controlled the driver and his companion, who was in an inebriated state, and handed them over to the police. Two other vehicles were also damaged in the accident.
It is being told that the accident happened at 11.30 pm. Police personnel immediately reached the spot and took the injured to the hospital. According to the information, the workers were sitting to have dinner. Two youths were crushed by a speeding Bolero pickup. Two youths sitting near him were injured. People present at the spot said that the youth who died had started eating food on the footpath.
The deceased could not be identified
Police of Police Station Division No. 8 reached the incident site. Police have identified the driver as Shubham, a resident of Haryana. The police did not find any identity card from the youth, due to which they could not be identified.
Was returning after leaving the luggage
Inspector Baljeet Singh said that the driver was returning after leaving the luggage in Pathankot. He had to go to Tagore Hospital located near Workshop Chowk, Jalandhar. The reasons for the accident are not yet known. The bodies have been kept in the civil hospital for identification. Both the deceased youths were labourers.
