Keeping in mind the winter season, the Punjab government has announced winter holidays. This time there will be holidays from 24 December to 31 December. After this, from January 1, 2025, schools will open at their scheduled time as before.
These orders have been issued by the Education Department. The said orders will be applicable to all government, private aided and recognized schools in Punjab. Along with this, strict action will be taken against schools breaking the rules.
Punjab - Haryana is experiencing severe cold for the last 9 days. According to the Meteorological Department, people are not likely to get relief from the cold till December 20. The effect of snowfall in the mountains is also being seen in the cities of Punjab. Due to which there has been heavy fog in Abohar and surrounding areas for the last two-three days. Due to which there is a possibility of damage to the crops. In the morning, the ground appears white due to fog. A yellow alert has been issued regarding cold-wave till Friday. It has been issued for 11 districts of Punjab and 16 districts of Haryana.

Cold wave alert has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Firozpur, Fazilka, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala and SAS Nagar of Punjab. At the same time, the temperature of Punjab is continuously falling and there are also chances of frost.
