Congress MP from Amritsar Gurjit Singh Aujla came before the media regarding the delay in Delhi-Katra Expressway. He said that this project is very special for Amritsar, because it is a historical and tourist city. This would have seen an increase in tourists to Amritsar. It will act as the backbone of the economy. This project has been completed 70 percent.
Gurjit Aujla said that there are small patches and the government is not able to acquire them. The government is not even able to take possession of the acquired land. People from every section of the society are associated with this project, from labourers to big businessmen.
Government is not able to acquire small patches of land
He said that land worth Rs 250 crore has been acquired from IIM Tarn Taran to Manawale. There are small patches from Manawale to Sri Guru Ramdas Airport which is not being acquired. The government has to distribute Rs 2614 to 749 crore due to which possession is not possible.
Gurjit Aujla said that the government is not paying any attention to Punjab. "It is preparing to win the elections by manipulation and is running on advertisements. The Chief Minister became busy first in the Lok Sabha election campaign and then in the by-elections. There are 3 more by-elections and municipal elections ahead. He will also spend the next 2 years in this. When will we pay attention to Punjab again?"
He further said that "the government should be asked why they are not able to acquire the land and if they are acquiring it then why they are not able to take possession of it. Amritsar's development is stalled because of the government."
