Tried to run away after seeing the police
According to the information, ASI Rajesh Kumar had set up a blockade with the police team. Both the accused started running away after seeing the police, when they were caught on the spot. When he was searched, more than one kilogram of opium was recovered from him.
Case registered under NDPS
The accused have been identified as Ashwini Kumar, resident of Islam Ganj, and Sunil Kumar, resident of Gandhi Camp. The police will present the accused in the court and interrogate them on remand. A case has been registered against the accused under NDPS Act.
Police interrogation revealed that both the accused used to bring opium from Rajasthan. The Commissionerate Police has named the associate of Captain Singh, resident of Gurdaspur, an accused arrested with opium, in the case and arrested him.
