The people of Punjab may get a shock today. Along with Punjab, the government has increased the excise duty on petrol and diesel in the entire country. The central government has issued a gazette notification in which it has informed about increasing the excise duty on petrol and diesel. In such a situation, this excise duty will increase the pocket expenses of the common people. This excise duty has been imposed due to the low price of crude oil in the international market. Due to the low price, the government has increased the excise duty on petroleum companies such as Bharat Petroleum, Reliance and Hindustan Petroleum by Rs 2 per liter. Now in such a situation, it has to be seen that the prices of petrol and diesel of oil companies have also increased in the country. Now the supply of petrol and diesel to the people remains at the price of the current rates.
Crude oil prices have come down
In the last few days, crude oil prices have come down by 15% in the international market. In such a situation, the price of 1 barrel of crude oil in the international market is $ 63.34, which is at a very low level. In such a situation, the profit of the companies supplying petrol and diesel within the country has also increased. In view of this, the government has decided to increase its earnings and has increased the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 2.
It will affect the common man
The increased excise duty on petrol and diesel will be from Tuesday, April 8, i.e. tomorrow. Its direct impact will be on the oil companies only for now. Now it remains to be seen whether the companies will cover it from their profits or will recover it from the common man. If the oil companies also increase the price of petrol and diesel, then it will also affect the pocket of the common man.
