The Mohali CBI special court has pronounced the sentence in the famous 18-year-old Moga sex scandal of Punjab. The court has today sentenced four Punjab police officers guilty in this case to 5 years each. These include former SSP Davinder Singh Garcha, Moga SP Paramdeep Singh Sandhu, former SHO of Moga City Police Station Raman Kumar and Moga City Police Station Inspector Amarjit Singh.
Fine of Rs 2 lakh each
Justice Rakesh Gupta had held these officers guilty in the case of corruption and extortion. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh each on all these convicts. Former SHO Raman Kumar has been sentenced to 3 years in an additional section and fined Rs 1 lakh. After the court hearing, complainant Ranjeet Singh said that he is satisfied with the verdict and the decision is very good.
Under which section was the sentence pronounced
The CBI court had convicted Devinder Singh Garcha and PS Sandhu under Section 13(1)(d) along with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PC). Raman Kumar and Amarjit Singh were also convicted under sections of the PC Act and Section 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Amarjit Singh was also found guilty under Section 384 along with Section 511 IPC. All of them have been sentenced severely by the court today.
