The Supreme Court refused to intervene on the Punjab government's petition challenging the bail granted by the Punjab and Haryana High Court to Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira in the drugs case. The Punjab government had challenged the bail of Sukhpal Khaira in the Supreme Court.
The allegations are serious, but we do not agree with the circumstances.
The Supreme Court said during the hearing that there is no doubt that the allegations are very serious. But, in the facts and circumstances we do not agree. After which the Supreme Court rejected the application of the Punjab Government.
Punjab government is being implicated in a false case
After coming out of jail, Sukhpal Khaira has attacked the Punjab government. Khaira said that the Punjab government wants to keep him in jail by filing a false case. I am being punished for speaking the truth. What the central government is doing with the opposition parties in the country, the AAP government is doing the same with the opposition parties in Punjab.

Let us tell you that Congress MLA Sukhpal Khaira was arrested by Punjab Police in the early morning of 28 September 2023 from his residence in Chandigarh in a drugs case. In this case, the High Court had approved the bail of Sukhpal Khaira on January 4, 2024.
But the same day at around 3:00 am, an FIR was registered against him at Subhanpur police station in Kapurthala. Kapurthala court also granted him bail later.
