'Don't be selective'-SBI ordered to disclose bonds data in full by Thursday by 5Pm. The electoral bond case was heard in the Supreme Court. A five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud dismissed the order filed by the Election Commission of India.Hearing has started on an application filed by the Election Commission of Ratna. In this application, a demand has been made to return the electoral bond documents submitted to the court in sealed boxes on two occasions.
This is what Supreme Court said
"There is no manner of doubt that the SBI is required to furnish all details available with it. This, we clarify, will include the alphanumeric number and serial number, if any, of the bonds purchased. In order to avoid any controversy in the future, the chairperson of the bank should file an affidavit by 5 PM on Thursday that it has disclosed all details in its custody and that no details have been withheld."Supreme Court said.
SBI has said in its affidavit that the bank has handed over the material in a sealed envelope through a pendrive and two PDF files, which are password protected. The electoral bond which has not been paid to any party. Its amount has been deposited in the PM Relief Fund.
Bond data released after strictness of court
Earlier, after the strictness of the Supreme Court, the State Bank of India (SBI) has shared the data of electoral bonds with the Election Commission on its website, in which electoral bonds worth Rs 1,000 to Rs 1 crore have been issued since April 12, 2019. Information regarding purchase of bonds (these bonds have now expired) is given. It gives details of the companies and individuals who had purchased electoral bonds. There are also details of the parties to which these election donations were given.
