Bisleri, which has been ruling the bottled water market in India for 55 years, has a market share of 32 percent. The company has 122 plants and more than 4500 distributors across the country. The company's business is not only in India but also in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and currently the brand value of the company is more than Rs 7000 crore. In the financial year 2022-23, the revenue of Bisleri International was more than Rs 2300 crore. But, you will be surprised to know that there came a time when this company was on the verge of being sold. Then Jayanti Chauhan took charge of the company. With her wisdom, she not only saved the company from being sold, but also strengthened its hold on the market by launching new products.
44-year-old Jayanti Chauhan is the only heir of Ramesh Chauhan, the owner of Bisleri International. She has been helping her father in the work of Bisleri since the age of 24. But, he took over the reins of the company completely only in the year 2022. The special thing is that there was a time when Jayanti had clearly refused to run her father's business. She had no interest in this business at all.
The time came to sell the company
When Jayanti Chauhan refused to run Bisleri International, Ramesh Chauhan decided to sell the company. Tata Group came forward to buy the company. Several rounds of negotiations were held and there were also reports of a deal being struck for Rs 7000 crore. But, this deal did not materialise. Since Jayanti was not interested in running the company and the company was not sold, Ramesh Chauhan was caught in a dilemma.
Jayanti changed her mind and the company's fortunes changed
Jayanti changed her mind after the deal with Tata did not happen. She decided to run Bisleri International and asked her father to withdraw his decision to sell the company. Jayanti has also launched new products like Vedika in the premium segment to take the company forward. Changed the company's strategy. The result is in front of everyone. Today Bisleri is ruling the market.
Office opened in Mumbai
Jayanti has been looking after the company's work with her father since she was 24 years old. It was because of him that the company's office opened in Mumbai. Apart from water, the idea of launching products like fizzy fruit drinks was also Jayanti's. In the initial days, Jayanti focused on renovation and automation of the Bisleri plant, changes in HR and sales and marketing team. In the year 2022, Jayanti signed a deal with the IPL's Gujarat Titans team and Bisleri became the team's hydration partner for three years.
Studied in America-England
Jayanti has studied product development from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. Apart from this, she has studied fashion styling from Istituto Maragoni Milano and fashion styling and photography from London College of Fashion.
