On the occasion of Holi, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is going to provide free kitchen cylinders to about 1.75 crore eligible families of the state.
Let us tell you that the gas cylinder will be given under the Prime Minister Ujjwala Scheme. Under the scheme of Yogi government, there is a plan to give free LPG cylinders to the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme twice a year on the occasion of festivals. Earlier, the government had given free LPG cylinders on the occasion of Diwali in the month of November. The scheme was started in 2016
To avail the benefits of the scheme, the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will have to link their bank account with Aadhaar. Ujjwala scheme was started by Prime Minister Modi in the year 2016. The UP government has made a budget allocation of Rs 2,312 crore for the year 2023-24 under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Under the scheme, 1.75 crore poor women in the state are being given two free gas cylinder refills every year.
More than 1.31 crore gas cylinders have been distributed
During the first phase, between November 1 and February 15, 80.30 lakh Ujjwala Yojana beneficiary women got gas cylinder refills. The second phase is going on from January 1 till now, in which 50.87 lakh women have been given gas cylinder refills. UP government spokesperson also said that more than 1.31 crore LPG cylinder refills have been distributed under the scheme. While launching the scheme on November 10, 2023, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had deposited the subsidy amount in the accounts of lakhs of Ujjwala beneficiaries.
Cylinder and petrol-diesel rates reduced by Rs 100
At the same time, before the announcement of Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Modi had announced to reduce the price of LPG by Rs 100 on March 8. After this, government oil companies reduced the price of petrol and diesel from 12 noon on Friday (15 March). The price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has now come down to Rs 803. This cylinder is available for Rs 802.50 in Mumbai, Rs 818.50 in Chennai and Rs 829 in Kolkata.
