BJP has suffered a major setback amid elections in Jammu and Kashmir. BJP candidate from Surankote seat Syed Mushtaq Bukhari passed away on Wednesday. Former Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta condoled his death.
Death due to heart attack
It is being told that he died of a heart attack. He was the BJP candidate from Surankote in the assembly elections being held in Jammu and Kashmir. Syed Mushtaq Bukhari left the National Conference and joined the BJP in February this year. Former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Kavinder Gupta has condoled the death of former minister Syed Mushtaq Bukhari.
BJP candidate Syed Mushtaq Bukhari was 75 years old. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. Party leaders said that Bukhari was unwell for some time and suffered a heart attack at seven in the morning. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Syed Bukhari is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
National Conference resigned in 2022
Syed Mushtaq Bukhari was associated with Farooq Abdullah's party National Conference for a long time. He was also the prominent face of the party in Rajouri and Poonch sectors. However, in 2022, he resigned from the 'National Conference' on the issue of granting ST status to the hills, after which he joined the BJP in February.
BJP state president Ravinder Raina in Jammu had given Syed Mushtaq Bukhari the membership of the BJP party. After this, he was made a candidate by the BJP from Surankot in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
