Pollution in Delhi has remained at a very dangerous level for the last few days. On Monday morning, the average AQI was recorded at 481. Now, after the worsening pollution situation and the strict remarks of the Supreme Court, orders have been issued to close all schools. Online classes have been asked to continue the studies of children.
Let us tell you that in Delhi, except for class 10th and 12th, all other classes were already put in online mode. But now the court has ordered to close the class of 10th and 12th as well and to do it in online mode.
The Supreme Court said that all the governments of NCR area are directed to strictly implement GRAP 4. All the states will immediately form teams to monitor the necessary work under GRAP 4.
At the same time, an order has been issued to close primary schools in 5 districts of Haryana. GRAP-4 restrictions have also been implemented in 14 districts.
GRAP is imposed when AQI crosses 400
To check the level of air pollution, it has been divided into 4 categories. This is called Graded Response Action Plan i.e. GRAP. Under its 4 categories, the government imposes restrictions and issues measures to reduce pollution.
GRAP-1: Bad (AQI 201-300)
GRAP-2: Very bad (AQI 301-400)
GRAP-3: Severe (AQI 401 to 450)
GRAP-4: Very severe (AQI more than 450)
With the implementation of GRAP-4, many restrictions have been imposed. Also, children, elderly, respiratory and heart patients, people suffering from chronic diseases have been advised to stay indoors.
GRAP-4.. What are the restrictions?
After the implementation of GRAP-4, trucks, loaders and other heavy vehicles are not allowed to enter Delhi. However, vehicles supplying essential materials are allowed entry.
All types of construction and demolition work are banned
The state government also decides on online classes for school students and work from home for government and private offices.
The decision of odd-even can also be taken in the fourth phase, although it is not necessary.
Under GRAP Stage 4, diesel-powered medium, heavy goods vehicles (BS-IV or less) registered in Delhi are banned, but vehicles carrying essential goods will be exempted.
Offices located in Delhi-NCR have been advised to work with 50 percent capacity, the remaining employees will have to work from home.
