The Saudi government has taken strict action against people living without valid documents. In a joint operation conducted by Saudi security forces and related government agencies, more than 21 thousand illegal residents have been arrested. Among them, 13,638 are violators of housing law, 4,663 of border security law and 3,176 of labor law.
The Saudi Arabian government has taken action against people living illegally in the country. 21,477 illegal immigrants have been arrested in Saudi Arabia in just one week (30 January to 5 February). Saudi security forces, along with the concerned government agencies, have launched a campaign against people living in the country without legal documents. The Saudi Home Ministry gave this information on Saturday. The government has said that such campaigns will continue in the future and strict action will be taken.
According to the Saudi Gazette report, Saudi police arrested 13,638 people for violating residency laws, 4,663 for violating border security laws and 3,176 for violating labor laws in this campaign. A total of 28,661 people were sent to their country's embassies for travel documents. 2919 people were sent to complete travel bookings, while 8733 people were deported from the country.

1,316 people have been arrested while trying to cross the border into Saudi Arabia. Of these, 40 percent are Yemeni and 58 percent are Ethiopian citizens. 77 people have been caught trying to leave the country illegally. 13 people have also been arrested for helping to bring illegal immigrants, sheltering them and giving them jobs. A total of 37,120 illegal residents are currently undergoing legal action. These include 33,547 men and 3,573 women
The Saudi Home Ministry has warned that anyone who helps to bring or take people to Saudi Arabia illegally can be jailed for up to 15 years. Also, the vehicles and houses used will also be confiscated. The ministry has appealed to the people to report any kind of violation to the police.
