Rachel Gupta, a resident of Jalandhar, Punjab, has brought laurels to India by winning the title of Miss Grand International in Bangkok, Thailand. Rachel has become the first Indian to bring this title to India. Christine Julian Opiazza of the Philippines was the first runner-up in this event. She was followed by Thai Su Nyen of Myanmar, Safito Kabengele of France and Talita Hartmann of Brazil.

After winning the title, Rachel said I come from the country of India, where not everyone has food, water, education and basic amenities. This is true for most parts of the world. Along with this, it is time now that we stop fighting each other and start respecting each other and make sure that there are enough resources for everyone on this planet.
Finally, Rachel thanked the media. And said I believe that the most serious issue facing the world today is poverty due to overpopulation and lack of resources.
