Canada is constantly giving shocks to Punjabis. Now an important change has been announced. Which will now have an effect on work permit and permanent residential (PR) applications. 50 points will not be given in Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). The Canadian government is going to shut it down. Due to which it will become difficult to get PR.
Let us tell you that this decision will affect those individuals who had earlier come to work in Canada by purchasing LMIA and were dreaming of permanent residence. This change can cause a big shock to thousands of Indians, especially the people of the Punjabi community.
Important documents for LMIA PR
Canada's Immigration Minister Mark Miller has recently announced the removal of 50 points previously given through LMIA. LMIA is an important document that the employer in Canada has to obtain before hiring a foreign employee.
This document certifies that a Canadian citizen or permanent resident cannot be appointed to that position. This new change can be challenging for foreign labour working under work permit in Canada, because earlier 50 additional points were obtained through LMIA, which increased the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of persons applying for Express Entry.
Now there may be difficulty in getting PR
This used to increase the chances of getting PR. But now the removal of LMIA points may reduce the CRS score, as a result of which these applicants may face difficulty in getting PR.
Let us tell you that at present the applicant can get 50 points for an LMIA or 200 points for management under the Express Entry system. At present, the CRS score for Canadian PR is more than 500 and more than 50 points from LMIA prove to be effective for getting PR. But in most cases, this facility is used for fraud.
10-year multiple entry visa discontinued
Earlier, the 10-year multiple entry visa has been discontinued by the Canadian government, in most cases only single entry visas are being issued. Apart from this, the number of student visas has been reduced to 4 lakh 37 thousand.
LMIA was sold for 25 to 30 lakh rupees
The Punjabi community, especially people from Punjab, were taking full advantage of this system for a long time. People who reached Canada on tourist visa, later used to buy LMIA and come to work in Canada on work permit. One LMIA was sold between 25-30 lakh rupees. The advantage of this system was that work permit holders could also bring their wife and children to Canada and their children's education was free, along with that the wife also got a work permit.
60 thousand LMIAs were issued last year
Last year, the Canadian government issued more than 60,000 LMIAs, most of which were from the Punjabi community. Of these, 8,289 LMIAs were for agricultural workers, and 994 LMIAs were issued for the construction of houses. After this change, those who had increased their CRS score through LMIA will now need to find new ways.
Will present a new challenge for Indians
Candidates affected by this decision of the Canadian government will now have to find alternative ways to increase their CRS score. This change will present a new challenge for thousands of Indians who had previously used this route to work in Canada and hope for permanent residence.
