Punjab's most expensive Ladowal toll plaza is going to be free once again. In view of the increased toll fees, farmers have given an ultimatum to NHAI to reduce the tax on vehicles. If NHAI does not reduce the rates, then once again the farmers will protest at Ladowal Toll Plaza and get it made free.
Ultimatum till 18th August
Pradhan Dilbagh Singh said that a tractor march is being taken out on 15th August. Bharatiya Kisan Union Doaba, Bharatiya Kisan Union Dakaunda and Bharatiya Kisan Mazdoor Union will hold a meeting at Ladowal Toll Plaza on August 18 and will soon make the toll free. Earlier, the farmers had made the toll free by setting up a permanent front at the toll plaza for 46 days.
Rates increased effective from June 2
- The old car tax on toll was Rs 215 for one way and Rs 325 for round trip and the monthly pass was Rs 7175. In the new rate, the one-way fare is Rs 220 and round trip Rs 330 and the monthly pass will be Rs 7360.
Similarly, the old fare for light vehicle was Rs 350 for one way and Rs 520 for round trip and the monthly pass was Rs 11590. In the new rate, the one-way fare is Rs 355 and round trip Rs 535 and the monthly pass will be Rs 11885.
The old rate of a 2 axle bus or truck was Rs 730 for one way and Rs 1095 for a round trip and the monthly pass was Rs 24285. The new rate will be Rs 745 for one way, Rs 1120 for reverse and monthly pass will be Rs 24905.
The old rate for three axle vehicles was Rs 795 for one side and Rs 1190 for the rear and the monthly pass was Rs 26490. The new rate will be Rs 815 for one way and Rs 1225 for the reverse and the monthly pass will be Rs 27170.
The old rate for heavy construction machinery four axle vehicles was Rs 1140 for one way and Rs 1715 for round trip and the monthly pass was Rs 38,085. The new rate will be Rs 1170 for one way and Rs 1755 for the return and the monthly pass will be Rs 39055.
- The old rate for 7 and more axles was Rs 1390 one way, Rs 2085 round trip. In the new rate, one way fare will be Rs 1425, return fare will be Rs 2140 and monthly pass will be Rs 47 thousand 545. Along with this, the pass rate for those living within a radius of 20 kilometres of the toll plaza was also increased from Rs 330 to Rs 340 from June 2.
