The order to lift the President's rule in Jammu and Kashmir was issued late on Sunday night. These orders have been issued before the formation of the new government. National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah may take oath as the Chief Minister today.
The Home Ministry said that President Draupadi Murmu has issued the order to lift the President's rule just before the oath taking ceremony of the new Chief Minister.
BJP-PDP government fell in 2028
Let us tell you that the last assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir were held 10 years ago in 2014. After the elections, BJP-PDP formed a coalition government. The government fell in 2018 after BJP withdrew support and Mehbooba Mufti resigned from the post of CM. Since then Jammu and Kashmir was under the rule of the Center.
NC won 42 and Congress won 6 seats
In the assembly elections, the National Conference (NC) won 42, its ally Congress won 6 and CPI (M) won one seat. After the result, NC chief Farooq Abdullah had said that Omar would become CM.
Omar was elected leader of the legislature party in the meeting held on October 10. After this, Omar went to Raj Bhavan in Srinagar on the evening of October 11 and met LG Manoj Sinha and staked claim to form the I.N.D.I.A. block government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Governor's rule was imposed for 6 months in June 2018
After the fall of Mehbooba Mufti's government, according to Section 92 of the state constitution, Governor's rule was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir for six months, as Article 370 was not removed there then. After the 6-month period of Governor's rule ended, the central government imposed President's rule, which was later extended further.
President's rule was imposed in 2019
President's rule was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir on October 31, 2019 after the repeal of Articles 370 and 35A and dividing the region into two union territories - Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The Home Ministry had issued an order of President's rule under Section 73 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019.
