The Colombian government is sending planes to bring back its citizens deported from the US. The Colombian government has said that it will ensure the dignity of its citizens. It has demanded support and protocol from the US regime. There is tension between the two countries on this issue.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro has decided to send special planes to bring back migrants from the US. Colombia has taken this decision after pictures of migrants being sent back from the US in an inhumane manner, tied in chains, surfaced and after a tussle with Donald Trump on this issue. Earlier, Petro had stopped flights carrying migrants from the US from landing in Colombia. On this, Donald Trump had threatened to impose tariffs on Colombia. After this, the Colombian government has said that it will ensure that its citizens are not humiliated and expelled from the US. In this regard, the Colombian President's Office has laid special emphasis on the words 'honorable return' in its statement.
Dignified return of it's citizens
A statement issued by the Colombian President's Office said that under the direction of Gustavo Petro, the Colombian government has provided the presidential plane to facilitate the dignified return of its citizens arriving in the country on deportation flights. Petro wants the dignified return of its deported citizens. A special team has also been formed to return Colombian citizens from the US. The Colombian government is in talks with the US to ensure dignified treatment of the deportees. It is clear from the statement that the Colombian government is very serious about the dignified treatment of its citizens.
Colombia had stopped US planes
The Colombian government did not allow entry to two US military planes going to Bogota to deport Colombian migrants. Colombian President Gustavo Petro had earlier written on X, 'America cannot treat Colombian migrants like criminals. I will not accept US planes carrying Colombian migrants until the Trump administration treats them with respect.'
After this, Donald Trump ordered to take steps like duty and visa ban against Colombia. Just a few hours after this, Colombia also decided to increase import duty on America. This increased the tension between the two countries. After this, late on Sunday night, the White House said that Colombia has agreed to accept all the conditions of Trump.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said the Colombian government has agreed to all of President Trump's conditions, including the acceptance of all illegal Colombian immigrants deported from the United States on US military aircraft and without any limits or delays.
