Petrol and diesel have become expensive in Punjab. The state government has increased VAT on petrol by 61 paise and on diesel by 92 paise. The prices of petrol and diesel depend on the prices of crude oil in the international market. In India, Indian oil companies such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum update these prices every day.
Prices were opened at this rate
The price of petrol in Punjab opened at ₹ 96.82 per litre on Thursday morning, which will increase to ₹ 97.43. Similarly, the price of diesel is currently Rs 87.11 per litre which will increase to Rs 88.03 today.
However, state and local governments impose their own taxes, due to which fuel prices vary from city to city. The highest rate of petrol during September was Rs 97.09, which was an increase of 1.09 percent between September 1 and September 5.
Electricity subsidy of Rs 3 per unit withdrawn
According to the information, the government had given relief of Rs 3 per unit to electricity consumers with 7 kilowatt load during the time of the Congress government. This was double subsidy. The government has closed it. However, the scheme of providing 300 units of free electricity to every household will continue.
No effect on 300 units of electricity
After the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in the state, the Bhagwant Mann government had fulfilled the promise of providing 300 units of free electricity within three months. Due to this, 90 percent of the houses in the state are getting free electricity.
Earlier, the government of former Chief Minister Charanjit Channi had decided to give relief of Rs 3 per unit to consumers of 7 kW. The government has now closed it.
