Pakistan Petroleum Limited has discovered new oil and gas reserves from Shah Bandar block in Sujawal district of Sindh. Jhamp East X-1 well is producing 10 million cubic feet of gas and 150 barrels of oil per day. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif ordered to ensure gas supply to domestic consumers in winter.
A large oil reserve has been found in Pakistan. Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced the discovery of new oil and gas reserves in the Shah Bandar block located in Sujawal district of Sindh province. The company informed the Pakistani Stock Exchange about the discovery of oil reserves. According to the information given to the stock exchange, the Jhamp East X-1 well in the Shah Bandar block is producing 10 million standard cubic feet of natural gas and more than 150 barrels of light oil daily.
The natural reservoir pressure from the well is 2,800 pounds per square inch. The gas extracted from it is being processed at the Sujawal Gas Processing Plant and is being added to the Sui Southern Gas Company's system, increasing the supply of natural gas in the region. The Shah Bandar block is owned by a consortium of stakeholders, with PPL holding 63 per cent. Mari Petroleum has 32 per cent while Sindh Energy Holding and Government Holdings (Private) Limited have 2.5 per cent stake each.
Shahbaz ordered gas supply
Earlier, Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif had ordered the officials to ensure continuous and reliable gas supply to domestic consumers during the winter season. Domestic consumers in Pakistan face gas shortage. Expressing concern about this, Shahbaz Sharif demanded immediate improvement in the supply system and reiterated that providing gas to domestic consumers is the top priority of the government.
Gas reserves have been found earlier too
Earlier in September also, there was news of finding huge gas reserves in Pakistan. Then a large reserve of petroleum and natural gas was discovered in Pakistani waters. This reserve was said to be so huge that if energy is extracted from it, it can change the fate of the country.
