The number of immigration agents is increasing in Punjab. Travel agents have opened their offices in every district of the state. But 92 percent of them are working illegally. Only 8 percent of agents come under the central guidelines. Let us tell you that a report of the Ministry of External Affairs of the Central Government has revealed about travel agents.
65 licenses have expired
During this time it has come to light that there are only 212 such travel agents in the state who have valid licenses. Out of these, the licenses of about 65 have expired, cancelled and become inactive. Not a single agent is registered in eight districts, however, still a large number of agents are working illegally.
More than 2730 agents are illegal
A total of more than 2730 immigration agents are working illegally in the state, who are charging huge amounts to send people abroad. The districts which do not have a single registered immigration agent include Pathankot, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Fazilka, Malerkotla and Mansa. The government is also preparing to take action against illegal agents in these districts.
Maximum 86 from Jalandhar
Let us tell you that, maximum agents are registered in Jalandhar, Mohali and Hoshiarpur. A total of 86 agents have licenses in Jalandhar. Out of this, the license of 16 has expired, due to which they are also working without renewing the license. Along with this, 4 licenses have also been cancelled, while 1 license has been suspended and two have been cancelled after request. Mohali is at second place with the maximum number of 31 agents having licenses, out of which seven have expired, while one has been cancelled.
22 in Hoshiarpur have valid licenses
22 in Hoshiarpur have valid licenses, but the licenses of 8 of them have expired. 20 agents in Ludhiana have licenses. Of these, three have expired and one has been cancelled. Similarly, only one agent was registered in Fatehgarh Sahib, whose license has also been suspended. Two are registered in Sangrur, out of which one's license has been suspended.
