Air India has taken a big decision regarding the food controversy. The company owned by Tata Group has said that it will no longer serve Halal food to Hindus and Sikhs in flights. In fact, Congress MP Manickam Tagore had expressed concern over Air India labeling food on the basis of religion. Due to which a controversy arose over Muslim meals in flights.
Muslim meals will be called special meals
On the other hand, Muslim meals will now be called special meals. Special meals will mean Halal certified meals. Some time ago, there was a controversy due to the name of the meal being Muslim meals.
According to the airline, prebooked meals labeled with the MOML Muslim meal sticker will be considered special meals (SPML). Halal certificate will be given only for uplifted MOML meals. All meals on Saudi sectors will be halal. Halal certificate will be given on Jeddah, Dammam, Riyadh, Medina sectors including Hajj flights.
