Nominations will be held today on Saturday for the mayor elections to be held in Chandigarh. For this, candidates have been announced by the parties. In the elections to be held on January 18, names of candidates from BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party are coming forward. Please note that today is the last day of nomination.
3 candidates from Congress
Manoj Sonkar can be a contender for the mayor election from BJP. Whereas Congress has fielded Jasveer Bunty for Mayor, Gurpreet Gavi for Senior Deputy Mayor and Nirmala Devi for Deputy Mayor.
Three names from AAP
Aam Aadmi Party has three councilors from Scheduled Caste, Kuldeep Tita, Neha and Poonam. The party will nominate one of these for the post of Mayor today. The party will also take decisions for Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor. There is a constant threat of rebellion in AAP due to Aam Aadmi Party councilor Billu joining BJP.
BJP councilor out of reach
A BJP councilor in the city has been out of reach for the last several days. Party leaders have been trying to contact him for 2 days. But no contact is possible. However, information has been received that some of his family relatives live abroad. He has just come to Chandigarh. That's why he has switched off his mobile phone because he is busy with them.
Now Anoop Gupta is the Mayor of Chandigarh
Elections for Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor were held on January 17 last year. Then councilor from Ward No. 11 and BJP leader Anoop Gupta was elected the 29th Mayor of Chandigarh. Anup Gupta had defeated Aam Aadmi Party councilor and mayor candidate Jasveer Singh Ladi from Ward No. 21. For now, Chandigarh will get a new mayor.
