After the High Court stayed the bail, Arvind Kejriwal moved the Supreme Court. While hearing this matter, the Supreme Court said that we should wait for the decision of the High Court. Know the whole matter
Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court had granted bail to Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on June 20 on a bond of Rs 1 lakh. The court also imposed some conditions on Kejriwal before granting him bail. The judge had directed Kejriwal not to obstruct the investigation or try to influence witnesses.
ED had challenged the bail in the High Court
On the decision of the lower court to grant bail to Arvind Kejriwal, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court on June 21, challenging the bail given to CM Arvind Kejriwal. After hearing the ED petition, the High Court had put an interim stay on the lower court's order granting bail to Kejriwal.
Decision reserved for 2-3 days for record checking
The vacation bench of Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain had said that Kejriwal's bail will remain on hold until the High Court orders. The court is keeping the order reserved for 2-3 days till it sees the records of the entire case. The decision on bail will be given only after seeing the records.
Was arrested on 21st March
CM Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on 21 March. During this period he was kept in judicial custody for a few days. On April 1, he was sent to Tihar Jail. The Supreme Court had granted him interim bail on May 10 during the Lok Sabha elections. After being out on bail for 21 days, Kejriwal surrendered in Tihar at 5 pm on June 2.
Had said on June 2- Don't know when I will come out
Before surrender on June 2, Delhi CM Kejriwal, while addressing AAP workers, had said that I am going to jail to save the country. I don't know when I will come back. I don't know what will happen to me there. Today, I am going to Tihar Jail again. I did not waste even a single minute in these 21 days. Aam Aadmi Party is not important for me, the country is important for us.I want to tell the people of Delhi that I have committed a scam. I am going to jail again because I have raised my voice against dictatorship.
