The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the NEET UG paper leak case, has filed its status report in the Supreme Court on Thursday. The paper leak case is also to be heard in the Supreme Court today. CBI filed this report under sealed cover.
NTA filed an affidavit
Earlier, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has filed its affidavit in the Supreme Court. NTA said in the affidavit that strict security procedures are followed for preparing papers for competitive exams.Papers are prepared in the presence of many subject experts. They are kept in sealed envelopes.
Center said- no evidence of rigging found in the paper
The Center said in its affidavit that IIT Madras has analyzed the data of NEET UG results. According to this, no evidence of large-scale rigging has been found in the examination. Nor have candidates from any one area been given any advantage. Therefore we do not want to conduct the examination again. At the same time, NEET counseling will start from the third week of July. This will be done in four rounds.
The bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra said in strong words to the Center and the National Examination Agency conducting the examination, we should not remain in denial mode. This will increase the problem further. The next hearing on the petitions filed by students and organisations will be held on July 11.
11 people have been arrested
On the other hand, CBI on Tuesday arrested 2 more people including a candidate from Patna in the paper leak case.With this arrest, the investigating agency has so far arrested 11 people in the case.
An official said that this is the first time that the agency has arrested any candidate in connection with alleged irregularities related to the paper leak. CBI has arrested the father of NEET-UG candidate Sunny, resident of Nalanda, and other candidate Ranjit Kumar, resident of Gaya.Information was given by the investigating agency that CBI has so far arrested 8 people from Bihar in the paper leak case, while one accused each has been arrested in Latur, Maharashtra and Godhra, Gujarat in connection with the alleged misappropriation. Whereas in Dehradun, one accused was arrested in connection with the conspiracy.
The CBI has already arrested the principal and vice principal of Oasis School located in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand and two people who allegedly provided secure premises to the students.
6 FIRs have been registered by CBI
So far, 6 FIRs have been lodged by CBI in the investigation related to paper leak. The FIR registered in Bihar is related to the paper leak. Whereas the FIRs registered in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra are related to cheating and giving exams in place of students.
