Huge ocean found 700 km inside the earth- Scientists have finally achieved great success in the long-running search for water on Earth. Where some scientists have discovered about a huge ocean hidden beneath the earth's crust. His discoveries and achievements have mesmerised the world. Actually, water is stored in a rock called Ringwoodite 700 kilometres below the earth's surface. This underground reservoir is three times the total volume of all the planet's surface oceans. According to the information, the findings have been presented in detail in the 2014 scientific paper ‘Dehydration Melting at the Top of Lower Mantle’.
Jacobsen gave information
Geophysicist Steve Jacobsen, a key member of the scientific team, said, “Ringwoodite is like a sponge that absorbs water, there is something special in the crystal structure of ringwoodite that allows it to attract hydrogen and trap water. “I think we are finally seeing evidence of the entire Earth's water cycle, which may help explain the vast amounts of liquid water on the surface of our habitable planet. Scientists have been searching for this missing deep water for decades.
Scientists told the whole story
Giving further information on this matter, scientists said, “The high water storage capacity of minerals in the Earth's mantle transition zone (depth of 410- to 660-km) indicates the possibility of a deep H2O reservoir, which is located vertically. Dehydration of the flowing mantle can cause melting. We investigated the effects of down-welling from the transition zone in the lower mantle with high-pressure laboratory experiments, numerical modelling, and seismic P-to-S conversions.
