Actually, a bid of Rs 2 crore was placed for the post of Sarpanch in village Hardowal Kalan in Gurdaspur. Regarding which a petition was filed in the High Court. It was said in the petition that the Punjab State Election Act has been violated.
This petition has been filed in the court by Advocate Satinder Kaur. She said that elections for the post of Sarpanch in Punjab are to be held on October 15. Bids are being placed for the post of Sarpanch in many places.
Bidding is unconstitutional
Let us tell you that a bid of two crores was placed for the post of Sarpanch in village Hardowal Kalan, which comes under Dera Baba Nanak assembly constituency of Gurdaspur. This bid was placed by BJP leader Atma Singh. The villagers had agreed to the bid.
The advocate said that selling the post of Sarpanch is against the Constitution. The Code of Conduct and Punjab State Election Act have been violated by bidding in the elections. A demand has been made to the court to issue instructions regarding this.
However, at that time the youth assembly of the village claimed that the money coming from the bid will be spent on the development of the village. While the grant to be given to the Panchayat will be separate. An announcement was made from Gurudwara Sahib regarding the bid for the post of Sarpanch in the village. After this the process started.
The bid was opposed a lot
According to the information, no representative from Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal came forward to bid. First BJP leader Atma Ram bid 50 lakh rupees. In comparison to him Jaswinder Singh had given a bid of 1 crore. After this Atma Singh bid 2 crores. As soon as this matter came to light, opposition to it started.

Ever since the Panchayat has been dissolved in the village, the youth assembly of the village (21 member committee) is looking after all the arrangements. The Sabha had decided that this time, the person who gives the highest amount for the post of Sarpanch will be unanimously elected as the Sarpanch of the village.
The Sabha will spend the money received on the development work of the village. While the amount received from the government for the development of the village will be separate. Everyone has agreed on this.
