There will be a government holiday in Punjab on Tuesday, April 8. A holiday has been declared across Punjab on Tuesday due to the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nabha Das Ji. On this day, there will be a holiday in schools, colleges, educational institutions and other commercial units across the state.
Actually, the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nabha Das Ji will be celebrated on this day. The state government has included this day in the list of government holidays for the year 2025. Due to this, a holiday has been announced by the government. Government schools, colleges and other government institutions will remain closed on this day.
Know who was Guru Nabha Das Ji
Guru Nabha Das Ji was a Brahma Gyani. He wrote the religious text Bhagatmala and was awarded the title of Goswami in Kanhar Das Ji's Bhandara (1592 AD). He held a Gyan Goshthi for three years with Goswami Tulsi Das Ji, the author of Shri Ramayana. His holy temples have the status of pilgrimage places today. Guruji was born on 8 April 1537 AD in Ram Bhadrachal (Telangana) near the Godavari river to mother Saraswati Janaki Devi and father Ram Das Ji.
He was blind from birth and his name was Narayan Das. His family was a devotee of Lord Shri Ram and did the work of singing, playing musical instruments and making baskets. When he was five years old, his father passed away.
