A team of City Police in Jalandhar has arrested a suspect. The arrested accused has been identified as Sukhwant Singh son of Resham Singh resident of Dheerpur. A case has been registered against him under the Arms Act in Police Station Division Number 1. The accused will be produced in court today and taken on remand.
12 cartridges recovered
The police have recovered four illegal .32 bore weapons and 12 live cartridges from the accused. The police will interrogate him about his accomplices. This action has been taken by the CIA staff team of Jalandhar City Police. The team of CIA staff in-charge Surinder Singh Kamboj was looking for accused Sukhwant Singh in a case. The police arrested the accused from the area of Police Station Division Number 1 on the basis of confidential information.
Was an accomplice of Goldie Brar
The accused is originally from Kartarpur. Till two years ago, he was also linked with gangster Goldie Brar, who was living abroad. Then there was a rift between the two over some matter. After which he started running the gang alone.
More than 15 FIRs registered
More than 15 FIRs are registered against the accused in different police stations of Punjab. These include cases of Arms Act, extortion, attempt to murder and smuggling. According to sources, the accused was about to target some close associates of terrorist Lakhbir Singh Landa. For which he had ordered weapons. The accused is currently being questioned as to how many more people were involved with him and where and which gangsters he had recruited.
