For the first time, all three commanders in the army will get special power: India's three armies, Army, Air Force and Navy, have made a distinct identity across the world on the basis of their bravery and discipline. The army stands on every front for the security of the country and is ready to give a tough fight to the enemies. In this episode, a historic change has started in the defense services of the country. For the first time, the chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force will be appointed as their personal assistant officers (Aide-de-Camp or ADC) from other services. This change will come into effect from January 1, 2025. The move is aimed at increasing cohesion and cooperation between the three armies, which is part of the broader goal of 'theaterization'.
Strong step towards theaterization
Actually, this is part of the Theater Command. The centerpiece of this change is the 'Theaterization' scheme, under which the three armies will be organized under joint theater commands. The aim of theaterization is that the three armies work with an integrated approach. This process started in 2020 during the tenure of the first Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat. It has been given a decisive direction under the leadership of the current CDS General Anil Chauhan.
Cross-posting and harmonization initiatives
Cross-posting of officers is being done to make theaterization successful. For the first time, Assistant Officers (ADC) of the Chiefs of Navy, Army and Air Force will be appointed from other services. This move is not just symbolic but an important part of enhancing cooperation and trust between the three services. Apart from this, common discipline rules, training modules and annual report formats have also been made uniform in the armies.
Coordinated operations from Integrated Theater Command
All the resources of the Army, Air Force and Navy will work under a single command. Every theater command will be assigned a specific area, where it will operate its forces in a coordinated manner. This process will lead to efficient use of resources during war and improve coordination between the three forces. Each theater command will be headed by a three-star officer, who can be a Lieutenant General in the Army, Air Marshal in the Air Force and Vice Admiral in the Navy.
Implemented democratically for the first time in the world
Though theaterization is not a new concept. Countries like America, China and Russia have worked on it, but India will be the first democratic country in the world to implement it with complete transparency and consent. The first phase will be implemented in 2025, in which the commanders of the three armies will be given special powers. This step will not only increase India's military strength but will also set an example of India's democratic values in the world.
Stand strong in the changing global scenario
Understand it in such a way that if needed, all three armies will be deployed at one place with a single command. This historic initiative will make India self-reliant in military and strategic terms. This joint strategy of CDS General Anil Chauhan and the three army chiefs is a big step towards modernizing India's forces. This will ensure that the Indian forces stand strong in the rapidly changing global scenario and are ready to face every challenge.
