Obesity is not a disease in itself but it is the root of many diseases. According to WHO, around 2 billion people worldwide are obese. Being overweight increases the risk of heart disease and diabetes. That's why people try their best to reduce obesity.
In this sequence, the trend of intermittent fasting has increased these days. In intermittent fasting, people do not eat anything for a certain time interval. It is a kind of fasting or fasting in which nothing is eaten for 8 10 or 12 hours. Several studies have already stated that intermittent fasting is not a permanent solution to weight loss. This can lead to many other problems and only one regimen for weight loss does not make a difference. Now new research has revealed that intermittent fasting can cause fertility problems in women.
Intermittent fasting affects the hormones that manage periods
According to the Global Diabetes Community, according to health experts, intermittent fasting affects the hormones that manage menstruation in women. According to the report, periods started becoming irregular in some women due to intermittent fasting for a long time. Research states that irregular periods were seen in women who did intermittent fasting for 8 to 12 hours. The researchers also found that intermittent fasting was associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, mental health, and cardiovascular disease.
In intermittent fasting, hunger has to be stopped forcefully for a certain time. Although intermittent fasting reduces weight, many problems start coming. Researchers said that this affects two hormones, especially in women. One is Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and the other is Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH). Both these hormones are related to the reproductive health of women. Ovulation is found due to these two hormones.
That is when the egg is formed in women, then it helps in reaching the uterus. If the production of these two hormones starts decreasing, periods can stop in women and it can be difficult to conceive and this can lead to infertility in women. Many health experts have advised that women should not fast between 10 am to 6 pm.
