Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered to hold Chandigarh Mayor elections on January 30. The High Court told the Chandigarh administration that the elections should start from 10 am in a fair manner. No outsider will go during voting. Chandigarh Police will provide complete security to the counsellors.
Know what is the whole matter
Elections were postponed on January 18
Let us tell you that Chandigarh Mayor elections were to be held on January 18. But due to illness of district administration officials the elections had to be postponed. Which Congress and Aam Aadmi Party together opposed. After this, filings have been made on behalf of Aam Aadmi Party councilor and alliance's mayor candidate Kuldeep Tita. Aam Aadmi Party wants elections to be held soon.
Administration held elections on 6th February
After the elections were postponed, the administration fixed the election date as February 6. Congress and Aam Aadmi Party opposed this decision of the administration and also demonstrated on the streets. Congress and AAP imposed pressure on BJP.
High Court said- tell the date of elections otherwise we will decide
During the last hearing, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had bluntly told the Chandigarh administration that you tell the date of elections otherwise we will decide. Because 6th February is a very long date. Elections should be held before this. February 6th is a long time. The date of elections should be fixed any time after January 26.
