Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has released Rs 5421 crore to strengthen the railway infrastructure in Punjab. He said that 24 times more funds have been released to Punjab as compared to 2009-2014. 30 Amrit stations are being built at a cost of Rs 1122 crore.
Railway network in Punjab is more than Philippines
The Railway Minister further said that from 2014 till now, 382 km of new tracks have been laid in Punjab, which is more than the entire rail network of Philippines. At the same time, Rs 1,16,000 crore has been allocated for security. Old tracks and security systems are also being upgraded and work is being done in mission mode.
These stations of Punjab are being developed
It is noteworthy that Amrit stations are being developed at many places in Punjab including Abohar Railway Station, Amritsar Station, Anandpur Sahib, Beas, Bathinda, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station, Phillaur, Ludhiana, Mansa and Malerkotla.
