The central government is in full action mode to stop online fraud. The government is going to close about 18 lakh SIM and mobile connections in the next 15 days. On May 9, the Telecom Department had directed telecom companies like Jio, Airtel and Vi to close 28,220 mobile bands. Besides, instructions were also given to re-verify about 20 lakh mobile connections.
This will be the first time that the government is going to shut down mobile and SIM connections in such large numbers. In such a situation, it is very important for you to know whether your number is included in these 18 lakh mobile connections.
Due to this reason SIM cards will be closed
The central government has decided to ban SIM cards to eliminate cyber crime and online fraud. According to the report, telecom companies will reverify the mobile connection and SIM card, after which they can block them.
Cases of mobile fraud increased
According to the report, cyber crimes committed through mobile phones are increasing rapidly in the country. National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) has caused a loss of about Rs 10,319 crore in digital financial fraud in the year 2023. 694,000 complaints have been filed in this matter.
