Former leader of Akali Dal in Punjab, Bikram Majithia will again appear before the Patiala SIT today. This is Majithia's first appearance after becoming the new SIT. Now he will appear before DIG HS Bhullar. The government had reconstituted the SIT after the retirement of ADGP Mukhwinder Singh Chhinna.
Apart from DIG Bhullar, Patiala SSP Varun Sharma and Dhuri SP Yogesh Sharma have been included as members in the SIT. Earlier, Majithia was called on December 27, but he did not appear citing insufficient documents. After which the old SIT had called him again on December 30 to record his statement and he was interrogated for about 4 and a half hours.
FIR was filed in 2021
An FIR was registered against Bikram Singh Majithia in Mohali under the NDPS Act on 20 December 2021 during the tenure of Charanjit Singh Channi. After this, the Supreme Court gave a big relief to Majithia by staying his arrest till he contests the elections. After voting, Majithia surrendered in Mohali court on 24 February.
