BJP has appointed Punjab BJP in-charge and former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani as observer regarding the ongoing issue of CM's name in Maharashtra. He has been appointed as the central observer along with Finance Minister Sitharaman. This order has been issued by the party's national general secretary Arun Singh.
Rupani is in the role of Punjab in-charge
Vijay Rupani has been handling the responsibility of the post of in-charge of Punjab BJP for a long time. Under his leadership, BJP contested the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and 4 assembly by-elections on its own. However, the party's vote percentage increased in the Lok Sabha elections. However, the party had to face defeat on 4 seats in the Lok Sabha by-elections. At the same time, corporation and city council elections are also being fought under his leadership.
CM has not been elected yet
Mahayuti has got 230 seats in the assembly elections. 85 seats more than the 145 MLAs required for majority. BJP has got 132 seats, Shiv Sena Shinde 57 and NCP Ajit Pawar 41 seats. But now the issue is stuck regarding the post of CM. That is why BJP has decided to send Nirmala Sitharaman and Vijay Rupani to Maharashtra.
