Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has again suffered a setback in the CBI case regarding Delhi Liquor Policy. Rouse Avenue Court has extended Kejriwal's judicial custody till September 11. The court also took cognizance of the supplementary charge sheet of CBI and issued summons to Kejriwal.
Supplementary charge sheet filed against 4 people including Kejriwal
CBI had filed supplementary charge sheet against Arvind Kejriwal, Durgesh Pathak, Vinod Chauhan, Ashish Mathur, Sarath Reddy. The court has given time till September 11 to the accused to file their reply.
CBI had reserved the decision on August 27
Let us tell you that on August 27, the court had reserved its decision on the supplementary charge sheet of CBI.Then Kejriwal appeared in the court through video conferencing from Tihar Jail. CBI had demanded judicial custody for 14 days, but the court extended the custody only for a week, i.e. till September 3.
Got bail from ED, arrested by CBI
ED and CBI case is going on against Kejriwal in the liquor policy case.ED had arrested Kejriwal on March 21. Although, the Supreme Court had granted him interim bail in the ED case on July 12, but he is in jail in the CBI case. CBI had arrested Kejriwal on June 26 on corruption charges in the liquor policy case.
Hearing in Supreme Court on September 5
On August 5, the Delhi High Court had rejected Kejriwal's petition challenging the CBI arrest. Also asked to go to lower court for bail. Kejriwal had reached the Supreme Court against the order of the High Court. His bail plea in the CBI case will be heard on September 5.
