Patiala Court has issued an arrest warrant against Bharat Inder Chahal, advisor to former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh. Along with this, Vigilance has also been asked to arrest him and appear in court by October 28.
Allegations were made against Punjab government
Bharat Inder Chahal had filed a petition in the High Court regarding anticipatory bail in this case. In his petition, he had said that the current government is taking action against the leaders and close ones of the previous government due to political rivalry and hence is trying to trap him too.
The High Court had canceled the anticipatory bail
The Punjab and Haryana High Court had rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Bharat Inder Chahal. But before this, the High Court had approved anticipatory bail to Chahal on October 4 last year.
Know what is the whole matter
According to the Vigilance, the income and expenditure of Bharat Inder Chahal was investigated from March 2017 to September 2021. In which it was found that the total income of the family was Rs 7 crore 85 lakh 16 thousand 905. Whereas the family has spent Rs 31 crore 79 lakh 89 thousand 11. Due to this, Vigilance registered a case against Bharat Inder Chahal. Bharat Inder Singh Chahal was the media advisor to CM Captain Amarinder Singh from 1 April 2017 to 31 August 2021. An FIR was registered in August 2023, within 2 days of his leaving the post.
