In view of the scorching heat in Punjab-Haryana, holidays have been declared in schools from tomorrow i.e. from 21st May to 30th June. In view of the heat, Haryana Directorate of School Education has issued a letter to DC.
Amidst the scorching heat in Haryana, schools have been declared closed in 11 districts. Schools will remain closed in Karnal, Kaithal and Rewari till class 5, in Hisar, Kurukshetra, Sirsa, Jind, Sonipat, Nuh and Panipat till class 8 and in Charkhi Dadri till May 24.The timing has also been changed
In view of the scorching heat, the timing of schools in Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh has also been changed. In Punjab, from May 20 to May 31, all government, aided and private schools will open from 7 am to 12 noon.
Red alert issued regarding heat wave
Let us tell you that earlier the Education Department in Punjab had announced holiday from June 1 to June 30. Red alert of heat wave has been issued in 11 districts of Haryana till May 23.
Temperature reached 46 to 47 degrees
Pathankot city of Punjab was the hottest today with a maximum temperature of 45.5 degrees. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in Punjab warning of extreme heat on 20, 21, 22 and 23 May (holiday in schools of Punjab). Meteorologists say that the temperature in the state may reach 46 to 47 degrees Celsius in the next 4-5 days.
The Meteorological Department is appealing to people to come out of their homes only when necessary. Pathankot has been the hottest city in Punjab, with the maximum temperature reaching 45.5 degrees Celsius. In view of the heat wave, holidays have been declared in schools. Earlier the holidays were to be from 1st June, but due to the heat the holidays have been postponed from tomorrow i.e. 21st May.
