After deportation, America has now increased the fee of H-1B visa. Earlier, where the registration fee for H-1B was $ 10, now it has been increased to $ 125. This change has been made by the Biden administration to ensure transparency and integrity of the visa system.
Under this new change, a beneficiary-centric registration and selection process has been adopted for H-1B visa. Now each applicant will be given entry in the lottery selection process only once, no matter how many entries have been sent for him. The passport will play the role of a unique identifier in this registration, which will prevent misuse and fraud of the H-1B lottery.
The fee hike and the new process are aimed at curbing agencies that used to try to increase the chances of winning the lottery by registering multiple times for the same candidate.
H-1B visa registrations drop
A total of 4,70,342 eligible registrations were received for H-1B visas for fiscal year 2025, a drop of 38.6% from the previous year. However, this number is still far above the annual quota. Only 85,000 H-1B visas are issued each year, with 20,000 reserved for the masters cap.
