In Amritsar, the police is taking strict action against drug abuse. While taking action in the case of recovery of 105 kg heroin, the police arrested Lovepreet Singh and also recovered 6 kg heroin from his car. Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav said that Lovepreet Singh was about to hand over the consignment of heroin taken from Hanumangarh in Rajasthan to another drug smuggler Navjot Singh, who was arrested.
The State Special Operation Cell police station of Amritsar has registered a case and started further investigation. It is noteworthy that on Sunday, Punjab Police had busted a border smuggling racket by arresting two associates of Turkey-based drug smuggler Navpreet Singh alias Nav Bhullar with 105 kg heroin and six weapons including five foreign pistols and one country-made pistol.
The arrested persons were identified as Navjot Singh resident of Baba Bakala, Amritsar and Lovepreet Kumar resident of Kala Sanghia, Kapurthala. Yadav said that apart from recovering a huge consignment of heroin, the police teams also recovered a large quantity of banned drugs including 31.93 kg caffeine anhydrous and 17 kg dextromethorphan (DMR) from their possession.
