Orange alert has been issued for fog and cold wave in some areas of Punjab. According to the Meteorological Department, the fog will be even denser today due to which the visibility will reach zero. At the same time, there is continuous snowfall on the mountains. Due to this, the effect of cold is also visible in Chandigarh and Punjab, due to which a drop in temperature has also been recorded.
Cold havoc in 9 districts
An alert has also been issued regarding fog in Chandigarh. Apart from this, alert has also been given in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala and Mansa of Punjab. Apart from fog, cold wave is also expected in these cities, while in the rest of Punjab, a yellow alert has been issued for cold wave due to fog and cold wave.
Temperature will fall in 5 days
The Meteorological Department has expressed the apprehension that the effect of fog and cold wave will continue till January 3. During these 5 days, the temperature in Punjab will fall by 3 degrees. There will not be much change in the temperature of Chandigarh.
Weather will change due to western disturbance
There was rain in Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana in the last days of December. Apart from this, two new western disturbances will be active between 1 and 6 January, which will also affect the western Himalayan mountain range, after which there will be rain in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh as well as the plains. Due to rain, the temperature will again fall in Punjab-Chandigarh.
