Meanwhile, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) submitted a report to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on February 17, which gave information about the quality of river water during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.

It has been told that the water of both the rivers (Ganga-Yamuna) is not suitable for bathing. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) collected samples from a total of 73 different places in Prayagraj between 9 and 21 January. Now the results of its investigation have been released. The CPCB informed the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that the level of fecal coliform in the river water is so high that it is not safe for bathing.

Let us tell you that in the Maha Kumbh Mela, lakhs of devotees are coming to the Triveni Sangam for a holy bath, but this report has come as a warning for them. According to this report, the bacteria named ‘fecal coliform’, an indicator of wastewater contamination, whose acceptable limit is 100 in 1ML water, has been found to be 2,500.

DM said – the fair will run only till February 26

Rumors are being spread on social media that the government has extended the Maha Kumbh Mela till March in view of the crowd. On this, Prayagraj DM Ravindra Mandar said – do not pay attention to rumors. Maha Kumbh will conclude on February 26 itself.

There was a stampede on Maun Amavasya
