Today is the 17th day of Maha Kumbh on Wednesday. There are reports of many people being killed and injured due to stampede before Mauni Amavasya bath in Maha Kumbh. According to the information, more than 14 people are reported dead, while more than 50 are injured. All the injured have been admitted to the central hospital of the fair area. On the information of the stampede, many top officials including the fair officer have reached the spot. Heavy force has been deployed at the spot.

Now monitoring from helicopter

Till 9 am, 2.78 crore people have taken a dip in the Sangam. At the same time, till now 19.94 crore people have taken a bath in Maha Kumbh. After the stampede, on the request of the administration, all 13 Akharas had canceled the Amrit bath of Mauni Amavasya today. After this, the Akharas held a meeting. In which it was decided that Amrit bath will be done after 10 o’clock. PM Modi spoke to Yogi on the phone 4 times and got information about the incident. Now the officers are monitoring the Maha Kumbh from helicopters.

Reason for stampede

The entry and exit routes at Sangam Nose were not separate. During this time, people were going back from the same route from which they were coming. In such a situation, when the stampede occurred, people did not get a chance to escape. They kept falling on each other. Also, due to Amrit Snan, most of the pontoon bridges were closed. Due to this, the crowd of crores reaching Sangam kept gathering. Due to which some people fell after getting stuck in the barricades. Seeing this, there was a rumor of stampede.

CM Yogi called an emergency meeting in Lucknow

After the stampede in Maha Kumbh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called an emergency meeting at his residence. It includes senior police and government officers. Along with Prayagraj, Yogi is also discussing to control the crowd in Banaras and Ayodhya.

All schools in Prayagraj closed, holiday in High Court too

In view of the huge crowd in Prayagraj, schools from class 1 to 8 of all boards will remain closed on 29 and 30 January. Also, Allahabad High Court has also declared a holiday on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya.

The Maha Kumbh Mela will continue till February 26
