The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted interim bail to Sant Asaram Bapu in the rape case. He got this relief in connection with the 2013 rape case. Asaram has got interim bail on medical grounds till March 31. Let us tell you that earlier Asaram got 7 days parole from Jodhpur High Court. Asaram was given parole for treatment at Madhobagh Ayurvedic Hospital in Pune.
According to the information, while granting bail to Asaram, the Supreme Court has also imposed some conditions. One of the conditions is that he cannot meet his followers. Asaram is serving life imprisonment given by the trial court in the 2013 rape case.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2018
On 25 April 2018, Asaram was convicted of raping a minor by the special POCSO court of Jodhpur and sentenced to life imprisonment. Asaram has been in jail since 2 September 2013. Two years ago, a Gujarat court had convicted Asaram for raping a female follower on multiple occasions at his Surat ashram in 2013.
